Sacramento Kings: Malik Monk’s Looming Free Agency Decision Gets Truthful Take From Mike Brown
Alonzo Adams-USA TODAY Sports

One of the biggest storylines for the Sacramento Kings in their offseason is the future of Malik Monk in SacTown. The high-flying guard is a pending free agent, which means he could end up suiting up for another team once the 2023-24 NBA season arrives. Monk has already said how much he loves playing for the King and his teammates have also voiced out their desire to still see him in Kings threads next season.

However, it’s one thing to want to stay with a team and it’s completely another to look for a bigger salary in the market.

Mike Brown Speaks About Malik Monk-Sacramento Kings Connection

For Kings head coach Mike Brown, the former Kentucky Wildcats star truly appreciates his stint with the team and the support he’s been getting from the team’s fans.

“I truly believe Malik loves it here. The fans have done a fantastic job of showing him love. I think he really really appreciates that,” Brown said of Monk (via Matt George of ABC10).

Brown surely would love to see one of the Kings’ best offensive weapons give it another go in Sacramento, which failed to make it to the NBA Playoffs proper after losing to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Play-in Tournament.

Monk, who narrowly lost to Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2023-24 Sixth Man of the Year award, averaged a career-high 15.4 points per game with the Kings this season. He also had 2.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per outing, while coming off the bench in all of his 72 game appearances.
