Robert Griffin III calls out Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys for their reluctance to pay Dak Prescott, labels the team’s behavior ‘toxic’

Dak Prescott is coming off an MVP-caliber season after throwing for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions, yet Jerry Jones remains reluctant to offer him a long-term extension. Rumors have pointed out that the Dallas Cowboys may consider allowing the QB to test free agency after his contract ends next year.

Robert Griffin III, a former NFL quarterback and analyst for ESPN, called out Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. He compared the current situation between the team and the QB to a toxic relationship on Get Up.

Fans of the team continue to feel more and more frustrated owing to the team’s inactivity.

Jerry Jones made it clear that Dak Prescott will continue to be the team’s QB 

Jones recently stated that despite the slow progress around Prescott’s contract, he has no doubt that he will return as the team’s quarterback. 

There is no question with respect to his future. Considering that the Cowboys have a lot of decisions to make with respect to the contracts of their stars after the conclusion of the 2024 season, the team is not rushing into offering big-money deals to Prescott.

The Cowboys continue to face criticism from fans and analysts who cannot believe the team did not capitalize upon the opportunity to attempt to sign a running back so far in the offseason despite the market being filled with amazing talent.

Rather, the Cowboys are in talks to consider bringing back Ezekiel Elliott, which makes no sense. Zeke was the team’s primary RB and was let go because he failed to perform, which ultimately led the Cowboys to stick with Tony Pollard.

Jerry Jones hesitation may stem from the fact that he wants Dak Prescott to prove to him that he can lead the Dallas Cowboys past the Wild Card round in the playoffs.

Despite his stellar regular-season performance, the quarterback did not show up in the loss to the Green Bay Packers until it was too late. For now, the team’s focus continues to be on the NFL Draft, where the Cowboys will hopefully be able to do well yet again.
