Watch: Jordan Love throws backbreaking pick

Watch: Jordan Love's interception was worst mistake at worst possible time

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love picked the worst possible time to make his biggest mistake of the season. His interception in the final minute of the Packers' 24-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night put an abrupt end to their season and it came on a decision that he probably regretted immediately.

With the Packers trailing by three points and trying to drive for either a game-tying field goal or potential game-winning touchdown, Love was forced out of the pocket. Instead of just dumping the ball out of bounds and giving his team another play, he channeled his inner Brett Favre and made a terrible decision to throw the ball back across his body and across the field into triple coverage.

It resulted in this interception by 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

It is quite simply a pass that should have never been made. The Packers were facing first-and-10, still had almost a minute on the clock and had two timeouts at their disposal. There was just no need to force that pass.

It was a disappointing end to what turned out to be a wildly successful season for Love and the Packers.

Green Bay exceeded most expectations by making the playoffs and winning a road game at Dallas (in convincing fashion), while also learning that they do in fact have their long-term solution at quarterback.

Love was one of the best quarterbacks in the league during the second half of the season and played at a legitimately high level leading up to Saturday's game. He even made some big plays on Saturday and helped give the Packers a chance. He just made that one big mistake at the worst possible time.

It is a learning experience. The Packers should still be confident with him and what they have in front of them in future seasons.
