Team Canada took home gold Saturday at the 2022 World Juniors. Five Chicago Blackhawks’ prospects participated in the postponed tournament, including Canadian defenseman Ethan Del Mastro.

A 2021 fourth-round Blackhawks’ draft pick, Del Mastro recorded 8:26 of ice time in the host country’s 3-2 overtime victory over Finland to win the World Juniors title. After being a late addition to the roster, the 19-year-old played in six of Canada’s seven games during the tournament but did not record a point.

The 6-foot-4, 209-pound did make his physical presence known, however.

Del Mastro served as captain of the Mississauga Steelheads last season. In two seasons with the OHL club, he has 55 points (seven goals, 48 assists) across 125 games.

The Chicago Blackhawks signed Ethan Del Mastro to an entry-level deal in April. His contract is a three-year pact that carries an $878,333 cap hit through the 2024-25 season.
